5 Key Homepage Design Elements for Coaches + Therapists

How you, (or your designer) sets up your homepage matters, A LOT. In this post I will go over 5 elements I believe are crucial to the success of a website, especially if you are in the coaching or healing industry.

If your website is disorganized, or people coming to your website can’t find what they want right away they leave and go find someone else.

A beautifully designed website that is well organized is crucial to your business. Make sure your homepage only highlights the most important aspects of your business, keep it clutter free and visually appealing so its easy for potential clients to find the information they are looking for.

Here are 5 key elements to include in your homepage design:

1. Image or Video banner at the top with a CTA (call to action)

Having a beautiful image or short video loop at the top of your website draws people in. On top of this banner should be a key phrase that describes what you do i.e. the problem that you solve for clients, and a call to action with a button that offers them something of value and gets them on your email list. All of this should be visible “above the fold” which means they don’t need to scroll down to see it.

Here are some examples:

“Heal through Food” (short key phrase that describes what you do as a health coach)

Start healing today! Get my free recipe book now! (Call to Action that solves a problem)

Sign Me up! (Button)

“Learn to Thrive not just survive”

I help stressed out women heal their nervous systems and become resilient and thriving.

Of course your tagline/short key phrase can be longer or even include descriptive text underneath it, but try to keep everything on your banner short and sweet and to the point. The point being whatever problem you are solving for your ideal client and a free offer that gets them on your list while providing them value that will have them coming back for more!

2. About Me

Having an about section on the homepage can really help with SEO but it also creates transparency for any potential clients. They don’t have to click around on your website to find your bio. I don’t recommend putting your FULL bio on the homepage just an image of you and a quick introduction with a button to read more on your actual bio page is perfect!

3. Your Services/Offerings

This section should include an image that draws in your ideal client with text next to it that describes more in-depth what you offer and a link to your services page or to book a consult with you.

This section is critical and where a lot of people drop the ball. If it’s not clear and concise and leading them where you want them to go people tend to get overwhelmed and click off your website. To avoid that keep this section as simple as possible! Be sure to write your offering text in a way that solves the problem for your client, creating an emotional connection with your copy is key.

4. Reviews

If you have reviews it’s great to have them on your homepage (and at the very least on your services/offerings page). The best way to do this is to setup a slider that automatically slides through the reviews on your website. This looks clean and the movement draws people in. This creates automatic crediblity right on your homepage and gets your potential clients more interested in what you do, therefore they are more likely to sign up for your free offer or book a consult with you.

5. Subscribe Banner

Your subscribe banner will go at the bottom of your homepage and should include a form right there so they don’t have to click somewhere else to enter their email and get your free offer. Create short text that solves a problem for your free offering, (similiar to how you set it up in the header but can include a bit more descriptive text if needed). Free offers can be short video trainings, ebooks or meditations, these offers tend to do the best in terms of having enough value to encourage people to get on your list. Building a list is super important for your business, so offering something substantial that will really help your ideal client is the best way to bring in new business!

6. BONUS! Images and Text

The homepage is an introduction to the rest of your website - it leads your ideal clients where you want them to go. For the best results: be organized, use images that are unique and draw attention and represent your brand. The text you use on your website matters too! Make sure all the copy is clear and concise and encourages them to learn more about you and your services.

This is where discovering your brand and your ideal client really make a HUGE difference, so make sure you have that all setup before you start designing your website!
